House deemed death traps by Fire Officers

Two landlords from Greenwich have been given fines of 2000 and 3000 for failing in fire protection a five bedroom property they own.
Two landlords from Greenwich have been given fines of £2000 and £3000 for failing in fire protection a five bedroom property they own.

A list of items that the fire officers found were:

  • Incorrectly fitted fire doors
  • Inadequate means of escape
  • No fire alarm
  • No fire fighting equipment
The fires officers first visited the property in April 2014 and returned again recently to find that no works had been carried out.

London Fire Brigade’s borough commander for Greenwich, Matt Herrington, said: “Inadequate fire detection, poor means of escape and badly fitted fire doors meant that both of these premises were potential death traps.”
